Story & Credentials

Evidence-based coaching, grounded in sport science

Abby Edwards founded Elevated Mental Performance to bring evidence-based mental skills training to athletes and performers in Thornton and across the Denver metro. With a master’s degree and certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), she understands both the physical and mental demands of high performance. Her approach is grounded in sport science and the same principles that help elite athletes train their minds—focus, confidence, composure, and resilience—so you can show up when it matters.

The Science

Mental skills are trainable—just like physical skills

Decades of research in sport and performance psychology show that mental skills are trainable, just like physical skills. Psychological skills training improves consistency, confidence, and performance under pressure. Mental performance coaching is used at every level, from youth sport to Olympic and professional competition. Our work is informed by this evidence base and adapted to your goals and context.

  • M.S. degree — graduate-level training in performance and coaching
  • CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) — understands the physical AND mental demands of sport
  • Evidence-based methods only — every technique grounded in sport-science research
  • Dedicated parent education — because the support system at home matters
Coaching, Not Therapy

Knowing the difference—and when you need more

Sometimes athletes need more than performance coaching—they need the support of a trained therapist. If you’re experiencing persistent sadness, overwhelming anxiety, disordered eating, substance use, or thoughts of self-harm, we can help connect you with the right clinical professional. We do not provide licensed therapy or insurance-based mental health treatment; we focus on performance optimization and skill-building. If you or someone you know is in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline—call or text 988.
